Protect your stone with silicone!

Our Story

Life is too short not to be silly

I’m Jeremy Daross, the founder of SiliProducts and creator of the SiliSink kitchen sink edge guard. I come from a family of creative and silly people, including my grandfather who invented a hand-siphon for transferring gas from a car with gas to an empty one, and my mother who came with up dozens of invention ideas but never had the time to see any of them come to fruition. I have a degree in engineering and over 25 years in the construction industry, both of which were driven by my need to solve problems. I’ve come up with a bunch of inventions myself, but none of them seemed viable until…..

All solutions are born from problems

I’m well over 6 feet tall, so I’ve always hated bending over the sink to wash dishes. It’s much easier to set a pot or pan on the countertop in front of the sink, but then you risk scratching and chipping your expensive stone countertop (which I have done…. please don’t tell my wife). Also, I was tired of cleaning the disgusting, slimy water out of the little countertop caddy where our sponge, scrub brush, and soap lives. I looked all over the internet for a product that would solve all of these problems, but I couldn’t find anything that I was willing to buy. AHA! Finally, the moment had arrived. All I had to do was to come up with a simple product to solve all three problems. Thus was born the SiliSink sink edge protector!

Why so SILIOUS?

When a friend first suggested the name “SiliSink” to me (since my idea was made of silicone), I thought he was joking. Then I thought he was crazy. Who could ever take a name like that seriously? But then it started to grow on me as I realized that I don’t really WANT to be serious. There are so many serious, faceless corporate entities out there already… Why would I want to become another one?

Someday everyone will have one

It sounds trite, but one of the reasons I decided to move forward with this particular invention is that I truly believe this invention this is something which improve the lives of millions of people. The SiliSink kitchen sink edge guard could one day be as common as a scrub brush or a sponge. The first version of the SiliSink sink saddle is specifically for stone countertops with undermount sinks, but eventually I want to provide a version that fits every type of kitchen sink out there.

Making a Difference

Again, not to sound trite, but I want to make a positive difference in the world and I want my company to do the same. I wasn’t sure that the SiliSink would really do that until I got this email from a customer about a month after I started selling them:

“Hello,

This is my first letter ever to a company and I’m writing you today for two reasons. Firstly, to say thank you for making such a great product. After a thorough online search, I ordered the Clear Matte Silisink Saddle and it has solved a big problem for me. I thought you might be interested to know that it also serves a purpose other than the intended one of protecting stone counters from chipping while washing items on the edge of the sink. I ordered it to protect my new wooden/butcher-block counter from water damage and to protect my arms from discomfort and pain. I am in a wheelchair and had to constantly place (& replace!) towels on the front edge of the sink to more gently support my arms and to absorb the inevitable splashes of water. Although my counter top is only 3” wide at the front edge of the sink, this product is quite useful and is going to be a huge help to me. Secondly, I am about to order another Silisink Saddle for the other side of my double sink. I read on your website that you are planning to make additional sizes and just wanted to put a request in for a longer length for US standard double sinks (28”) which would eliminate the ridges on the ends from sticking up at the center of the sink when using two of these. Just a suggestion from a happy customer who will be recommending your product (especially for folks in wheelchairs). Thanks so much!”

If I doubted whether my invention would make a difference, that removed all doubt.

You mean there's more???

Yes, there are more creative, possibly silly products (see what I did there?) to come in the future.
